Logical Consistency Report Each point was manually checked for positional accuracy using the latest orthoimagery available along with physical discriptions provided by Maine Old Cemeteries Association (MOCA)
Completeness Report Dataset is complete. Additions are expected to be included in this dataset as more cemeteries are located.

Source Contribution Several towns and counties in Maine have cemetery data available on their town maintained websites. Other geneological organizations have cemetery data available on a limited basis. Cemetery locations were also provided by digital parcel data available online for certain communities where available.

Process Description Using documenation provided by MOCA, information obtained from various internet websites, personal knowledge and digital USGS 7.5 minute topographic maps (DRGCLIP) cemeteries were located, names and MOCA codes were associated with a particular cemetery where a match was found.

Process Description Converted and projected GPS coordinates provided by MOCA for Androscoggin County only to UTM NAD83 and imported X,Y into point feature class in personal geodatabase, these MOCA points were used where found to be more accurate than GNIS or where GNIS points didn't exist for a particular cemetery.
