Abstract

This web mapping service (WMS) provides the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), for Kennebec County, Maine, for 2011. This WMS was created by processing scanned maps provided by FEMA. Processing removed most of the aerial photo pixels which underlaid the maps, allowing users to overlay the FIRM designations on top of other GIS layers.NOTE: THIS IS NOT A DEFINITIVE RESOURCE FOR LEGAL DESIGNATION OF FLOOD ZONES. THE DEFINITIVE RESOURCE IS STILL THE PAPER MAP PROVIDED TO THE COUNTY.
