DeLorme 2003 (ORTHO_MCP)

FGDC XML
Logical Consistency Report The Delorme Ortho-rectified Digital Images (ODIs)presented in ORTHO_MCP cover a portion of the Maine coast from Ogunquit to Boothbay Harbor. The aerial photography was flown in June 2003. The orthoimages produced from the photography have a pixel resolution (or ground sample distance) of 1 foot.ORTHO_MCP is available at Maine GIS in a seamless mosaic of .TIFF images stored in Oracle 9i for users of ArcSDE 8.x and ArcIMS. The imagery covers a portion of the Maine coastline. Imagery created by Delorme using an ADS-40 sensor, http://www.lh-systems.com/products/ads40.html. The imagery consists of 3 bands - red, green, and blue. A single band near infra red was also collected.
Completeness Report The Delorme ODIs in ORTHO_MCP were acquired by the Maine State Planning Office for the Maine Coastal Program to provide low tide orthophotography for updating GIS data for Maine coastal areas. Delorme ODI were flown in 2003 and cover a portion of the Maine coast from Ogunquit to Boothbay Harbor.
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report The accuracy and quality of the Delorme ODIs in ORTHOS_MCP meet National Map Accuracy Standards 1:2,400 scale, plus/minus 2 meter or 6.67 feet, and is accurate for mapping applications at 1" = 200'.
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Value 2
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Explanation Digital file features include high quality ground-level georeferencing, derived from accurate positioning and geometric corrections, and provide a digital photographic map suitable for applications requiring a 1:2400 National Map Accuracy Standard (NMAS).
Process Description The ArcSDE in Oracle version of ORTHO_MCP is a seamless mosaic of Delorme Ortho-rectified Digital Images (ODIs).Georeference for each tile is computed from accurate ortho-rectification and mosaicking processes. Each tile is given a pixel/ground transformation matrix (with zero-rotation), included in the file georeferencing parameters. UTM or State Plane Coordinate System (SPCS7), North American Datum (NAD83) or NAD27, X and Y coordinates are computed for each tile. Due to the high level of accuracy in the ortho-rectification and georeferencing processes, seam lines are often hardly visible to untrained eyes, thanks to operator-controlled, computer assisted seam line positioning on the final mosaic.

Process Description A proprietary software program from Space Imaging was used to re-calculate some pixel values in the images. Pixels in which 1 or 2 of the 3 bands had values of zero were re-calculated to one. If all 3 bands equaled zero than the zero values were left untouched. Before loading into the ArcSDE database, the pixels in the .tiff images were adjusted to each other so that the pixels overlapped, allowing mosaicking. To adjust the pixels, an ESRI program name world_file_adjuster was used. The sderaster command was used to load the images into the ArcSDE database to create the ORTHO_MCP mosaic. During the load, the sderaster -o option was used for values equaled to zero. This loaded the images with a mask for pixels with a value of zero (one, two, or three bands).
