Abstract
Dataset contains high resolution QuickBird orthorectified satellite imagery from Digital Globe. The data are presented in 3 8-bit bands with pixel resolution of 60cm and horizontal accuracy of 2.3m. These digital images result from pan-sharpening of multispectral data to panchromatic data, followed by orthorectification and mosaicking of digital satellite image scenes. The images were collected July 13, 2005, Sep 5, 2005, Sep 28, 2005, and Oct 29, 2005, by the QB02 Satellite using the QB sensor at an altitude of 450km. Each pixel represents a planimetric square 60cm on a side on the ground. The satellite data are presented in 3 bands (3 = blue light 450-520nm; 2 = green light 520-600nm; 1 = red light 630-690nm). The data are pan-sharpened from Quickbird's multispectral (4-band) 2.44m sensor to the 61-cm panchromatic (445-900nm) sensor using an algorithm from ESRI. The data were resampled to 60cm pixels during the reprojection process to UTM Zone 19N NAD83, which is the current projection. Each band is captured in 11 bits and presented here as 8-bit. The images were radiometrically balanced to the extent possible (limited by vastly different collect dates) to provide a smooth mosaic. Orthorectification was completed using the National Elevation Dataset as the terrain reference. The accuracy and quality of the Digital Globe orthoimagery meets National Map Accuracy Standards at 1:3,600 scale, plus/minus 3 meters or 10 feet, and is accurate for mapping applications at 1" = 300'. This imagery is LICENSED from Digital Globe, available to the following GIS users: Maine state agency GIS users, including the Baxter Park Authority University of Maine System The Nature Conservancy, Maine office Use by any other individual is a violation of the license agreement and illegal. The Debsconeags data were purchased cooperatively with The Nature Conservancy, Maine office.
Purpose
Data were purchased to provide updated orthoimagery in the Debsconeags region, an area which would otherwise not be covered under the GeoLibrary Board orthoimagery purchase. The imagery, at 60cm resolution and 2.3m RMS horizontal accuracy, are useful in many large-scale mapping applications for the park area.

Logical Consistency Report
Imagery covers an area adjacent to Baxter State Park on the southwest corner. Pixel resolution is 60cm with horizontal RMS error of about 2.3m.
Completeness Report
The imagery collection is complete in that the entire area was imaged according to specifications.
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report
The Debsconeags data were orthorectified using NED to NMAS standards for 1:3600 data.
Process Description
Dataset is a seamless mosaic of QuickBird orthoimagery. QuickBird images were collected from the QuickBird satellite sensor at an altitude of 480km.Pan-sharpening of the Debsconeags data was performed by Maine DEP GIS staff using a proprietary ESRI algorithm distributed in ArcGIS 9.2 beta 2.The Debsconeags data were delivered in 8-bits by Digital Globe. Some tonal balancing was performed to create a smoother mosaic.Band reversal to create an RGB composite image was performed by Maine DEP GIS staff, as well as clipping output imagery to tiles of less than 16,000 pixels on a side (for compatibility with MapInfo).
